FAQ

Common Questions

What's the difference between a bookkeeper and an accountant?+

I handle the day-to-day: recording every transaction, reconciling your accounts, and making sure your books are accurate every month. Your CPA or accountant uses those books to file your taxes and give you tax strategy. Think of me as the person who keeps your numbers clean, so when tax season comes, your accountant isn't starting from scratch.

My books are a mess, or months behind. Can you still help?+

Yes, this is one of the most common ways clients come to me. Cleanup and catch-up bookkeeping is a core part of what I do. We start by reviewing exactly where things stand, then work month by month to get you current and accurate, no judgment, just a clear plan to get you caught up.

Do I really need a bookkeeper, or can I do this myself?+

You can, plenty of owners do for a while. But most come to me once bookkeeping starts eating into time they'd rather spend running their business, or once a mistake costs them more than a bookkeeper would have. If your books are simple and you enjoy managing them, that's great. If you'd rather have accurate numbers and your time back, that's where I come in.

How does bookkeeping work for contractors specifically?+

Contractors need more than a general ledger, you need to know which jobs are actually making you money. I set up your QuickBooks Online to track costs by project: materials, labor, subcontractors, so you can see your real margin on every job, not just your overall bank balance. I also handle 1099 tracking for your subs.

Can you manage bookkeeping for my rental properties, including Airbnb or other short-term rentals?+

Yes. I work with real estate investors managing anywhere from one property to a growing portfolio, including short-term rentals across multiple platforms. I set up QuickBooks so each property is tracked separately, so you know exactly how each one is performing, not just your combined total.
